How the Future Farm Investment Scheme (FFIS) in Scotland can be used for virtual fences from Monil

The Future Farming Investment Scheme (FFIS) is a capital grant to support farmers and crofters in Scotland who want to enhance the sustainability and overall efficiency of their agricultural operations. With an allocated budget of £14 million for the current application window (now until 22 August 2025), FFIS provides funding to actively support sustainable, climate-positive actions in their operations, including virtual fencing. The scheme contributes to Scotland’s broader efforts to promote climate resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve land stewardship.

As a competitive program, FFIS ensures that funding is awarded to proposals that clearly demonstrate alignment with its core objectives—boosting business sustainability, protecting or enhancing the environment, and driving meaningful climate action on the ground.
Grant amounts are structured as such:
Up to £5,000 for holdings ≤30 ha
£10,000 for 30.01 ha-150 ha
£20,000 for >150 ha
The application window for the scheme runs now through 22 August on Scotland’s Rural Payments and Services website.
